SANTA Johannesburg’s TB Awareness day on the 29/03/2019.

What a buzz in the early morning hours of Friday the 29/03/2019 as community members of Slovo Park informal settlement gathered to see what all this commotion was about in their community that the call home. Santa Johannesburg saw the need for this community to be educated and tested for TB.
TB been one of the world’s oldest diseases and continues to be the world’s deadliest infectious killer. Santa partnered with other stakeholders such as: Anova, SASSA, Freedom Park Clinic, Eldorado Park Ext 9 Clinic, City of Joburg Ennerdale , Ward Councillors, Environmental Health, Victim Empowerment Centre, Ward Committee, Vikelizizwe and City of Joburg Health Department and many more.
Our aim was providing this community with health tests and education that would empower them to take ownership of their continued health and well-being. Clothing and food was handed out, opportunities and ideas were exchanged, kids had fun, families and friends came to join the buzz. We have made friends, they regained their confidence and see some purpose for a life that at some stage seemed meaningless.
Test that was done: HIV, Diabetes, TB, Prostate Cancer and Immunisation done for children.
SANTA Johannesburg would like to take this opportunity to thank all the other stakeholders for participating in making this day successful.
